You’re a danger to society and should be treated as one.
Neither a private lawyer nor a public defender (who is a lawyer, by the way, just as qualified as a private one) will help you if you’re on your second dui.
And if you can afford a lawyer, you’re not entitled to a public defender anyway.

Public Defenders are lawyers, despite popular belief. However, whether to go with a private lawyer or a public defender depends on what you can afford. If you can afford to hire a private lawyer or have someone hire one for you, then you should do so. Because DUI punishment is mostly statutory these days, you are most likely going to get the same deal regardless.
