She could do the hollywood starlett thing and say she has an alcohol problem. She could say she needs to go to rehab, and get help for her addiction issues. She would have to plead out deferred, and beg the courts mercy. She should have gotten a court appointed attorney. She may be able to request the court appoint her one and have the date delayed a bit to see what her options are. She would seriously have to work on her problems though and would probably end up with probation and mandatory counseling. She needs to see a doctor about her ADD issues as well. If she is really diagnosed with ADD she needs verification of it to give the court... that may help her case. Alcohol effects people with ADD differently than people without it... aggression can be a problem. I **** to tell you this, but she may just well end up in jail for a bit. She NEEDS to be calm and not cry, and not get loud when things don't go her way...

Public defender.

Find out if there is a Therapeutic Drug Court in your court system. These courts allow people to get rehab, work, and get clean and sober. If they complete the program (it isn't easy) their charges are expunged.

My son is a director for the National Association of Therapeutic Drug Courts and is active in trying to get these courts established in all major cities. Call the court clerk's office and find out if she would have access to this. It saves lives, keeps people out of jail and their children out of foster homes and is so much less expensive than simply housing these people who need help - not jail - turn their lives around. They have to WANT to be clean and sober for this to work.

I hope she can be saved for her, her family and for her children.

Why haven't her parents stepped up to the plate on this one? Go, ask to adress the court. leave out the personal stuff and just concentrate on the addiction treatment as PART of her sentence.

well i would say that there is a likely possibility she could go to jail, but it also depends on what court hearing she is going for theres a docket sounding an arraingment, lots of aspects to all that.... I hope though she at least has obtained a public defender, which the court system should have provided her with at the beginning of her legal troubles. And yes you could try to get her counseling and maybe some other type of rehablilitative therapy to help her with her addictions, but the sad thing about all of that is depending on where you live some jails have medical wards that would be sufficient enough to have her put in to undergo rehabilitative therapys and various trypes of counseling. there are im sure many other variables to this story to but I do wish you the best of luck, and I wish your neice the best of luck as well because I do know she is going to need it

well, she probably is going to jail. and don't make excuses for her like ADD and her mom not knowing or caring, she's an adult with children of her own, she needs to grow up, maybe this will help her. i'm not trying to sound mean, but she needs to get a grip or her kids will be in the same boat. pray for her, support her, but dont excuse her behaviour

maybe you should take the kids, then. you're right , its not their fault.. i hope your neice gets the help she needs but youre right again, she probably wont find that help in jail....ive been down that lonely road and you cant help someone who doesnt want it. i **** to say that but if your neice really wanted help its out there, i wish you luck, hun
